DEAN'S ORDINANCE No. 2/2010
DOCTORAL EXAMINATIONS AT THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION, USB

  1. The applicant for a doctoral examination must submit a completed application form with enclosures, as prescribed by Section 8 of Doctoral Study Regulations of the Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia, including the list of the applicant's publications. Applications will be filed to the Department for Research and International Relations (Mrs Eva Babková, phone: 38 777 3048, address: Jeronýmova 10, 371 15 České Budějovice).

  2. The application deadline is 31st May.

  3. The fee charged to cover the administration of a doctoral examination has been set at 8,000 CZK. The fee will be paid along with the application, either in cash at the Cashier's Office of the PF, USB, Jeronýmova 10, 371 15 České Budějovice, or by bank transfer to the account of ČSOB 104725778/0300, variable symbol 123.

  4. The application for a doctoral examination may be submitted only by the graduate who has completed a magister programme and been awarded a "Magister" degree in accordance with Section (§)46 of Act 11/1998 Coll., on Higher Education, or has been awarded a "Magister" degree in compliance with Section 21, par. 2, or Section 43, par. 2 of Act 172/1990 Coll., on Higher Education, unless he/she has been awarded a "Magister" degree according to Section 22 of Act 172/1990 Coll., or unless it is a case referred to in Section 99, par. 4 of the Act on Higher Education.

  5. In case the application does not satisfy the requirements, the Vice-Dean for Research shall request the applicant in writing to supplement it. If the applicant does not provide the required data within 30 days after the request for more documents has been dispatched, the application procedure shall be termimated and the applicant shall be refunded the proportional part, i.e. 90%, of the fee paid.

  6. If the application procedure is initiated, the student will be entitled to use the Faculty's information sources and consult the chair of the examination board or any member of the board delegated by the chair (up to 5 hours).

  7. If the application has met all the requirements, the Vice-Dean for Research shalll hand the materials over to the chair of the appropriate board and the doctoral examination procedure shall be initiated. The chair of the examination board shall request the appointed external examiners to state their opinion within 60 days following the handover of the materials.

  8. If the applicant is prevented from taking the doctoral examination for some justifiable reasons, he/she must send a full written apology, in advance if possible. The propriety of the apology will be judged by the chair of the examination board.

  9. In case the applicant does not appear on the date of the examination and does not apologise within 5 days, the examination will be classified as "neprospěl(a)" [failed].

  10. The doctoral examination procedure will be terminated:

    • by the completion of the examination;
    • by the applicant's written request for the termination of the examination procedure; he/she shall then be refunded 50% of the fee paid;
    • if the 30-day deadline required for the supplementation and specification of the data included in the application form and its enclosures has not been met (see item 4 above);
    • upon the Dean's decision, in case one or more facts stated in the application form and its enclosures are incorrect; then the fee paid shall not be refunded;
    • if both external examiners do not deem the doctoral thesis befitting for defence; the applicant shall then be refunded 50% of the fee paid; by arrangement the applicant may rewrite the thesis and reapply for the examination;
    • if the examinee is classified as "neprospěl" at the retake;
    • if the applicant does not pay the fee (see item 3 above).
  11. The completion of the doctoral examination will be certified by the Department for Research and International Relations. The diploma will be awarded at a magister graduation ceremony, or on request, it may be obtained from the Department for Research and International Relations.

This provision invalidates Dean's Ordinance No. 9/2009.
