KAJ/VAL2 = Vybrané kapitoly z angloamerické literatury
II African American Literature

Instructor:

PhDr. Christopher Koy, M.A. Ph.D. ( koy@pf.jcu.cz or office tel. 389 033 204) Office: TL 306 - consultation hours to be announced

Description in English:

The goal of this course is to examine selected works of Anglo-American literature and deepen the knowledge of a specialized area not studied during the required course curriculum. The subject of this particular course is conceived as an introduction to African-American literature (fiction and nonfiction) such as slave narratives (written by escaped slaves) and novels and stories by their descendants. The course will be supplemented by lectures offering a theoretical and historical background which will serve as a framework for understanding and interpreting the texts.
