II. Topics to be covered:

This practically oriented course aims at consolidating and practising grammatical structures. The students will be able to recognize and produce the distinctive grammatical structures of a language and to use them effectively in communication. They will gradually and systematically build up their grammatical competence in the target language to reach the level B2 according to CEFR.

1 Introduction. Definition of the terms grammar and spelling.
2 The most common grammar mistakes and how to avoid them
3-4 The system of tenses. Present and Past.
5-6 The system of tenses. Present perfect and Past perfect
7-8 Expressing the future
9 Modal verbs
10 Passive
11 Questions and auxiliary verbs
12-13 Determination. Uses of articles.
14 Prepositions

 

III. Course requirements:

Attendance: 70%
Active participation in seminars
Presentation
End-of-term test
