The Department of Applied Physics and Technology PF JU is focused on the preparation of future teachers in two full-time Bachelor's degree programmes (Physics with a focus on education and Technics with a focus on education) and in two full-time follow-up Master's degree programmes (Teaching of Physics for the 2nd grade of primary school and Teaching of Technical Education for the 2nd grade of primary school).

The Department is also significantly involved in teaching technically oriented disciplines at the Faculty of Agriculture JU, organises further education courses for physics teachers and actively cooperates with foreign universities, primary and secondary schools in the region and the application sphere.

The activities of the Department of Applied Physics and Technology also include research in material sciences, modern technologies and didactics. The Department also makes a significant contribution to the popularisation of physics and technics at a number of events, some of which it organises itself. Students thus have the opportunity for a wide range of realization already during their studies with regard to their future career direction and employment in education and industry.
