Guidelines for Authors

The editorial board accepts studies written in English, Czech, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Authors are kindly requested to follow the guidelines below when preparing and submitting their manuscripts.

Types of Contributions

LINGUA VIVA publishes the following types of contributions:

  • Research articles (4,000–8,000 words)
  • Review articles (600–1,000 words)
  • Book reviews (600–1,000 words)
  • Reports on conferences and professional events (maximum 700 words)

Required Elements

Each manuscript must include the following elements:

  • Title of the article in the language of the article
  • Name(s) of the author(s) and institutional affiliation(s) in the language of the article
  • Title of the article in English
  • Abstract in English (maximum 10 lines)
  • Keywords in English
  • Abstract in the language of the article (maximum 10 lines)
  • Keywords in the language of the article

Manuscript Preparation

  • File format: MS Word, saved as *.rtf or *.doc.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 11 pt, single-spaced, justified, without automatic hyphenation.
  • First-line indentation of each paragraph: 1.25 cm.
  • Footnotes: at the bottom of the page, Times New Roman 9 pt.
  • No pagination.
  • The character % indicates a requested line break.
  • Citation style: APA 7th Edition
  • Please use your word processor's spell-check function before submission.

Specialized studies and review texts should follow the formatting models available on the journal's website (Model A for research articles, Model B for reviews and reports).

Structure of Research Articles

Research articles should normally include the following parts:

  • Introduction and research aims
  • Theoretical background and literature review
  • Methodology
  • Results and discussion
  • Conclusion and implications for practice
  • References

A brief description of the chosen citation style, including examples for books, journal articles, book chapters and online sources, is provided on the journal's website.

Every author receives a printed copy of the issue free of charge.

Deadlines

For the purposes of planning and timely publication, the following submission deadlines apply (unless otherwise specified in a special call for papers):

  • Spring issue: 28 February
  • Autumn issue: 31 August
